Associate Professor of International Law @Università Bocconi in Milan, Lawyer @Studio Pesce & Associati
Associate professor of international law at Bocconi University in Milan. Teacher of the courses on “International law and EU Law” and “EU private international law”. She carries out her research in an area in between International and European Union Law and focuses on economic issues. In recent years she has written about Brexit, publishing a volume on “Leaving the European Union: legal reflections on withdrawal in the days of Brexit”, EGEA, Milan, 2018, quoted by Attorney General Campos Sánchez-Bordona, in the first case on the interpretation of Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union decided by the Court of Justice. Paola Mariani has published numerous articles, mainly in English, on international journals and two chapters in volumes II and III of The Law and Politics of Brexit (edited by Federico Fabbrini), for the Oxford University Press in 2020 and 2021. She was a visiting scholar at Kings College London in 2015 and at the World Trade Institute in Bern in 2020. In parallel with her academic activity she practices as a lawyer at the international law firm Pesce & Associati in Milan. She is the proud mother of her daughters Chiara and Matilde and Chicuz (a shy black cat).
